Club members had an interesting & important message from Ron Hipner about
how water affects health. The body is 70%-80% water and needs a sufficient
amount of water each day to function properly. He also said there are studies that
show live food digests easier & contains antioxidants that slow the aging process
and reduce inflammation. Your body needs the proper acid/alkaline balance.

Kimberly Burch with the Florida Forest Service gave an interesting talk on Florida’s
state forests and how she provides assistance and information to land owners
with trees. She also goes to schools to provide information on our forests and trees.
An extensive tree planting program is done to replace trees that have been cut
for commercial use. Commercial timber production is a major industry in Florida.
Kimberly explained how important burning in the forests are to the environment
in the forests. Benefiting the trees and living species there while still helping to
prevent forest fires. She is located in the city government building in Inverness.

Our speaker for the September 28th breakfast meeting was Dr Ruben. He gave a
interesting and enlightening talk about the state of medicine today and what a
Doctor has to do to fulfill requirements and regulations to practice medicine.
He discussed medicare since there so many seniors in the county and a large part
of his practice. He spends a lot time on the computer imputing required
information for medicare and insurance. Pill addiction is a major problem across
state and nation. Systems/databases have been implemented to track distribution
of drugs and pills which have helped the problem but not solved it entirely.
Club members enjoyed a great presentation from Arbuth Bumgarner about his
business and travel to China and other parts of the far east. He has an import
company that manufactures items in china for horticulture use. Sales are to mostly
larger retail stores. Arbuth is a very humorous and a professional speaker that had
the members laughing and enjoying his talk. His company is Hernando Moss, Inc.

The exchange students that the club hosts were at the meeting: Elif Yegen from
Turkey and Arthur Delaby from Belgium were at the meeting.
