April 6, 2016 Breakfast Meeting

Katie Neely Co-Founder & Program Manager of Aspire gave an excellent
presentation updating the Club on Aspire – home of the River Project.
Her message to the Club was about “Healthy relationships create healthy
families which are the backbone of a healthy community”. She had the
the Aspire Mascot: Etch-a-Sketch with her to demonstrate it’s never too
late to shake it up and start with a new slate.

March 9, 2016 Breakfast Meeting

Speakers for the meeting from Big Brothers/Big Sister: Darlene Carlson &
Sheri Chancey.They gave an inspiring talk about the children who need a role
model t o help them develop and a friend who is there when they need advice
and help. The commitment to the children is for one on one over at least a year
or longer. They meet once a week for an hour or more which involve serious
and many fun activities. Couples can be both supporting the same child.
At the meeting they had 10 children needing Big Brothers or Big Sisters

2016 Stop Hunger Now

There was a large turnout of eager volunteers at the Crystal River High School
to do their part to “Stop Hunger Now”. Over 36,000 packets of food were filled.
A lot of fun was had by all and there was  real competition between the 3 teams.
Several of our Club members were helping make it a success to eliminate hunger
in the world: John Clardy, Eric Hoyer, Anthony Kopka, Mike Busler, Lis Busler,
Lou Newman, Roger Carlson and Lovisa Hansson.

2016 4th Annual Spell-A-Rama

The 4th Annual Citrus County Spell-A-Rama was a great success with teachers
and students from 11 elementary/primary schools competing. There was a big
crowd of parents and school personnel cheering on their favorite team. Teams
consist of 3 teachers or 3 students that compete against other teacher or student
teams. One missed word and the team was out. The winning teams were:
