September 2, 2015 Breakfast Meeting

Hi All,

GREAT meeting this morning!  Thank you to our awesome Club Director, Bill Buckner, for scheduling our programs each week!  Today we welcomed the YMCA Director and Rotarian, Joanna Castle, and heard ALL about the new YMCA facility that will be opening in April/May of 2016 right here in our very own Citrus County!!!!  Thank you, all, for your generosity with the happy dollars that we decided to donate, directly, to the YMCA, this morning!  As Rotarians, we continue to support our community and touch lives with our volunteers, our passion and our dollars!  And, thank you, Melissa, for reminding us, this morning, of the reason why we are all Rotarians…to be passionate and to make a difference in our community and in our world!

Here are some dates to remember…

  • Next week we should receive our raffle tickets to sell for the Corvette that Steve & Jewel Lamb have so generously donated to the 6 Citrus County Rotary Clubs!  Now we can sell these tickets along with our calendars, this year!!!!
  • The drawing for the corvette will be at our club’s “Ride for the Y”, on April 2nd!
  • Saturday, Sept. 12th, 8:00 am, club service project…painting at Daystar!!!!
  • Saturday, Sept. 26th, District Foundation training in Pasco County
  • Saturday, Sept. 19th, Homosassa club’s “River Clean Up”-8:30 am(Fish Bowl Rd)
  • Oct. 3rd – RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute)

Call or email President Roger for more information on any of the above dates/events.

Also, I have attached a flyer for Mr. Bill Fitness Boot Camps scheduled for this Saturday, the 5th, and next Saturday, the 12th.  For those of you who joined us, last time, he’s back!  He’s living here, in Crystal River, now…and you can look forward to hearing more from him, and I, because fun and fitness is key to a happy and healthy life, right????  Please share this flyer with ALL your friends and family!  See you there!

Have a GREAT Rotarian week and I’ll see you next week…Karen will be back next week!  Yeah!!!!

Yours in Rotary & Friendship,

Nancy

August 25 & 26 District Governor Will Miller Visits

District Governor Will Miller Visits

The Club Board of Director and some other members met with the
District Governor Will Miller and had dinner with him. Will reviewed
the status of the club and provided insight on how we were doing
as a Rotary Club. There is one problem to resolve soon, selecting
and approving a President-Elect for 2016-2017. This will be done
at the next club meeting on September 2nd.
At the breakfast meeting the next day Will gave a very good talk about
his views on Rotary and how the he and his district staff of volunteers
can help the club. He then opened it up for questions from the members.
We really appreciate his visiting the club since this is the only time some
club members will have a chance to see him. Will did mention the District
Conference Cruise next April as a chance for club members to meet
Rotarians from other clubs in the district and have fun on the cruise.

Jessie’s Place- Citrus County Children’s Advocacy Center

Our speaker was Melissa Bowmaster Executive Director of Jessie’s Place.
She provided a lot of information that most members were not aware
of what all was done their for abused children. They do the first interview’s
of the child when abuse has been reported or suspected to help determine
if child abuse has occurred. They have several programs going on to help
abused children to recover or deal with what happened.
Jessie’s Place is named in memory of Jessica Lundsford, a young Citrus County, FL
girl whose 2005 death drew nationwide attention and sympathy.
