On Saturday November 17th seven members of the Rotary Club picked up litter
on Hwy 491 including a part of Beverly Hills and south . It was a nice cool morning
for a little manual labor although the wind seems to blow hard when we do highway
cleanup. Club members in the picture below taken by Hazel Carlson are:

Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge Complex
Our speaker was Joyce Kleen from the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge
Complex. Five National Wildlife Refuges are managed from this location.
Joyce spoke about the history and what wildlife was on these five refuges.
These refuges provide space and safety for manatees, birds, turtles and other
species. The refuges provide a nesting and breeding ground for thousands
of birds. A critical habitat is provided during the winter for more the 700
mandates. Loggerhead sea turtles nesting peaked at 165 nests in 2018.

New Member & Diane Toto Speaks
President Michael Busler was very happy to install Sherry Bechtel as a new
member of the Rotary club of Central Citrus. Sherry has a bicycle business
in downtown Inverness. Eric Hoyer an avid bicyclist was her sponsor.
Diane Toto founder and President of the We Care Food Panty Board was
our speaker. Her presentation was about the We Care Food Pantry history
in Homosassa what it takes to run the operation. She shared with us that
the Food Pantry will be branching out to other parts of the county.

Scholarships & Economic Development
The club had another great meeting. Vera Swade presented scholarships
to two Seven River High School Seniors. They shared with us their future
education and career plans.
Bruce Register, Economic Development Director for Citrus County reviewed
plans & progress for Economic Development in the county. There are some
key dates for decisions coming up, soon.
