Daystar Ground Breaking

The ground breaking for the Daystar new apartment building for the homeless
was on September 7, 2018. There was a large turnout from the county and Catholic
Charities including the Bishop of the Diocese of St Petersburg. Central Citrus Rotary
is the lead club for the Rotary District grant supported by all 6 County Clubs. The
grant will fund purchase of the furniture for the apartments. Club Rotarians attending
the ground breaking were President Michael Busler, Angela & Liz; Anthony Kopka
and Hazel & Roger Carlson. President Mike & Anthony are in some of the pictures

Rotary Exchange Student from Germany

The Rotary Exchange Student(RYE) that the Rotary Club supports for 2018-2019
arrived on August 9, 2018 from Oberhinkofen, Germany. Timo Ziereis is going
to Lecanto High School. He will be here until June, 2019. His Host Parents are
Hazel & Roger Carlson. Timo and President Mike Busler exchanged club flags
at the August 15th club meeting.

United Way Reading Pals Program

The Citrus County United Way has a Reading Pals program for local pre-school
children. Cheri Simek, Reading Pals Coordinator gave a talk on the need for
better preparing pre-school children by reading to them. She needs more volunteers
to expand program for reading to pre-school children. Rotary Club Member,
Vera Swade is a volunteer with the Reading Pals Program.

DG’s Aide Visits Club

Ted Johnston Aid to DG Ely Nunez visited the the club  to share
information from the District Governor.There was some humor
but also some action items that the DG wants to accomplish
in the next year. Ted reviewed the Calendar of activities
for 2018/2019. He asked that everyone  try to attend the Ray’s
game on August 26, 2018. Part of the ticket fees goes to District.
Ray Kornatowski representing Find Em Friends was there to
receive a donation to help  the Scent kit project.
