Kids Christmas Shopping

95 Kids registered for Christmas shopping at Kmart in the Citrus County Mall.
This is always a fun & interesting time helping the kids shop for family, friends
and themselves for Christmas. Each child is assigned to a volunteer who helps
them find Christmas presents which may or not be what was on their list. Five
Clubs from Citrus County participated along with volunteers from Rotaract,
Interact and other volunteers.  The Central Citrus Rotary Club had 10 volunteers:
John Ceparano, Karen Stephenson, Geri Watrouse, Hazel Carlson, Arthur
Delaby, Nancy Ayres, Gary Ayres, Elif Yegen, Eric Hoyer & Roger Carlson.
After shopping was done everybody went to the Crystal River High School
to wrap presents and for pizza & cookies. This was a great time too with the
volunteers trying to help the kids wrap  presents.

Our second speaker was Linda McCone, a competent communicator. She is
a member of a the Unity/Dunnellon Toastmasters. Public speaking is important
for Rotarians to spread the word about Rotary and function as a leader in their
club on committees and as officers. She gave us information on how improving
public speaking skills can help us in Rotary and our professions. Several members
have taken public speaking training and understand how important it is for
everyone. Linda told us about Toastmasters and how it would help us as to be
better Rotarians. Roger, Linda and Geri are in the picture below.

Dictionaries for 3rd Grade Students

Dictionaries Distribution Completed for 3 Schools

Rotary Club of Central Citrus County has completed dictionary distribution
for 3 schools: Hernando Elementary, Forest Ridge Elementary & Central
Ridge Elementary. Giving out dictionaries is one of the most enjoyable
activities that a Rotarian can do serving the community. The 3rd grade
students are happy to get their own dictionary and have so many questions.
Martin Kovac, an Rotary Exchange Student for Slovakia was at the
schools helping distribute dictionaries. He spoke in Slovakian for them
and then translated it to English. The kids were really excited them this.
We appreciate having this opportunity to serve. The kids all wrote
thank you notes to Rotary for the dictionaries.
