Our speakers for this meeting were from Citrus County SCORE one of the best
in the nation. Jeffery & Kim Janssen spoke on their previous business background
an experience with score. They covered several companies they have helped in a
variety of ways. If you are a new business or need help with an existing business,
SCORE is the place to contact for help. There is no charge for their help and advice
but they don’t do the work for you.

Boys & Girls Club Update

Boy’s & Girls Club

We had 2 speakers representing the Boys & Girls Club. Travis Anderson the new
the new Executive Director of the Citrus County Boys & Girls Clubs gave an
interesting talk on his career and how he got involved with the Boys & Girls Club
and ending up in Citrus County.
Harvey Gerber spoke about the cover for the back of the building at the Central
Ridge Boys & Girls Club. The cost is lower.  He covered several options for raising
funds for the cover and other projects at the club.

Spell-A-Rama

Fifth Annual Spell-A-Rama

The Fifth Annual Spell-A-Rama was held on February 7, 2017 at the Forest Ridge
Elementary School. Eleven teams from the elementary/primary schools competed
in a spelling bee. Each team consisted of 3 fifth grade students and one teacher
for support. Many parents and teachers attended to support their team. It took
several spelling rounds to determine a winner. The three final teams were from
Central Ridge Elementary, Homosassa Elementary & Pleasant Grove Elementary
with Central Ridge Elementary finishing first. The winning team students received
bicycles from Walmart.

Elif’s Turkey Presentation

Elif Yegen had a great presentation about her home country, Turkey.
She had a short video and then a slide show presentation on customs,
areas of Turkey, her family & home. Turkey is a bridge between Asia
and Europe with many ancient historical sites and history. She
presented the club a banner from her host club in Turkey.
She is a Rotary Youth Exchange student going to school at Lecanto
High School.
