2016 4th Annual Spell-A-Rama

The 4th Annual Citrus County Spell-A-Rama was a great success with teachers
and students from 11 elementary/primary schools competing. There was a big
crowd of parents and school personnel cheering on their favorite team. Teams
consist of 3 teachers or 3 students that compete against other teacher or student
teams. One missed word and the team was out. The winning teams were:

Teachers                                                          Students
1st Inverness Primary                                      1st  Citrus Springs Elementary
2nd  Central Ridge Elementary                      2nd  Hernando Elementary
3rd  Peasant Grove Elementary                     3rd  Homosassa Elementary

February 10, 2016 Breakfast Meeting

2016-02-10med 08.33.50The program for the meeting was about Habitat for Humanity’s home building in Citrus County.
8 homes are under construction in the 30 home project off of South Apopka in Inverness.
George Rusaw and Paula Anspach gave us a lot
of information on what Habitat contributes to the local economy.
Home buyers are carefully screened with a financial commitment and
500 hours of sweat equity required when purchasing a Habitat built home.
Several businesses and organizations have financially sponsored homes.
Rotary is not one of them, yet.

Rotary Club Donations to Charities

The January 13, 2016 was our annual meeting to focus on  Membership. Our real
focus for this breakfast meeting was being able to donate money to 3 very worthy
local and international charities: Ryan Lamposona with Shelterbox, Tony Palumbo
with Hospice of Citrus County and Anthony Kopka with Daystar.
Tony Palumbo was the winner of the gift basket donated by Ken Swade. The raffle
money was donated to Polio Plus.
